Shark Teeth

Yesterday the boys had dental appointments. Well, Nate had an appointment and Ian had a trial run (see posts on Ian "My body is my temple" Shuster). Nate's two center bottom teeth have been wiggly for months, easily since summertime when I remember telling him "I bet you'll have those out by Christmas." Christmas came and went and the teeth remain in place, wobbly, but still in place. All the while kids in his class, friends, cousins are losing teeth left and right. A month or so ago the teeth shifted (see pic) and left a huge gap. Then, a few weeks ago we noticed a new adult tooth coming in, and as of this week there are now TWO center bottom teeth coming in right behind the wobblers. I told Nate he might just have shark teeth, or two rows of teeth. He is dying to have a tooth fall out - no fear what-so-ever. "It's just a little blood, mom," he told me the other day. Well, the dentist reports all is well and the new teeth will in fact move to the right place once the old ones fall out. Waiting, waiting, waiting...
In other news, Ian actually sat in the dental chair and let Dr. Miller examine his teeth, jaw, gums, etc. He's been in tears at the mention of the dentist all week AND said he "couldn't possibly sit in a pink chair because pink is for girls," (that is, btw, exactly how he said it. "couldn't possibly". For anyone who has seen Charlie and Lola, he often talks exactly like they do, sans the British accent). Ian has a loose tooth too, a top tooth that he knocked a year ago while running (and being pushed down by you-know-who) in the Orange County Airport on the way home from Disneyland. It's possible that there is damage to the root at the bone, but likely nothing will be done about it as it is just a baby tooth. Bad mommy, no Ian pic. I was so sure he would run away sobbing I didn't even take in a camera!
