Greetings from TLC- The Log Cabin! This post's theme: Milestones and Mishaps.

We begin this journey on Friday with 8.5 long hours in the car (or truck as the case may be, we let Dave drive his new Ridgeline so we could take the family bikes.)
4 DVDs, 3 Wendy's frosties, 2 Grabber battles and 147 "whenarewegonnabethere's" later, we arrived in Sagle, Idaho. The theme for the week: Campfires. I think we might be raising a couple of Pyromaniacs here.

Milestones: I decided we should go for a family bike ride over the famous Long Bridge - a 1.76 mile (each way) ride over the lake. It was warm and beautiful. Nate and Dave and I had a blast...Ian, not so much. About 3/4 of the way across Ian ran out of steam. Pout on face, he hopped off his bike and announced, "I quit". He was done. I had the pleasure of walking every inch of that bridge back at a 3 year old pace walking 2 bikes and watching tear after tear fall. Not to worry, this morning he asked me if he could go again. I sure wish I were that resilient.

Sunday morning Dave and the boys went on the first paddle boat adventure of the trip. As we had been fishing with no luck for 2 days, they decided to drag the poles being the boat from beach to dock. Halfway across the bay they noticed Ian's pole was bending with more than just the drag of the wake. He had a fish! They rushed to Judy's dock and the boys landed Ian's first fish: a 2 lb. Cutthroat Trout. Later that day, Dave learned how to clean a fish. MMMMMmmmmm.

That brings me to today...blogging from The Log is really blogging in town while 'borrowing' a wifi signal near Starbucks. I just reenacted the bridge pedal plus some, about 5-6 miles from Sagle Road to Starbucks in town.

Mishaps: Keeping it interesting, Dave ran out of gas on the Long Bridge on the way home from Grandma Rita's birthday dinner. Some nice Samaritan named Bud (only in Idaho) stopped and drove Dave to the Conoco for a can of gas.

Yesterday on the morning paddle boat ride and fishing trip we had barely launched dock when that lucky pole took an unlucky dive into the lake. Lucky for Dave, he got to take a dive in as well, about 12 feet down.
